Performing with a Purpose at Your ALLIANCE Center
Today's marketplace is incredibly competitive, not only in our industry, but in every industry around the globe. The competition can make it hard to stand out and difficult to thrive. Does your ALLIANCE center have what it takes to succeed? We've taught you about hiring the right people and how to train them, what tools to use, and what opportunities to provide to encourage their professional growth and development. Now what?
Think of the ingredients for success as the Five Rs. Your NETWORK center must have the right people in the right place at the right time, doing the right work, the right way.
Every team member must see him or herself as a leader for the company. Each of your staff members must have an attitude of "Performance with a Purpose" during each client interaction and each interaction with coworkers. Here are some skills that are the hallmarks of a strong ALLIANCE center leader. |
Be Competent
You must prove your competence by knowing your company, your competitors, the market, and your clients. Understand what potential clients want, and what you can offer that will set you apart from the competition. You must study and know everything about your business center and everything affecting it, and truly become an expert in your area of expertise. Be competent and be an expert, and you will become known for that.
|
Take a Stand
To be a leader, you must take a stand. You must become known for your courage and confidence to act and say what you believe is right. Do the right thing with your team members, and lead them by example to do the right thing with your clients.
|
Hone Communication Skills
Communication skills are critical. You can never over-invest in them. Become an effective communicator and listener. Be explicit with your team about your expectations of them and of your center, and the specific results you want to achieve.
Having good communication skills means being a good listener. Open your communication lines with your clients to understand their needs and determine what you can do to better serve them and to attract more prospects.
|
Coach
Surround yourself with good mentors. Listen. Learn. Your mentor can be a major force. Find your mentor through a training program, and consider establishing a mentorship program for your team members.
Mentors serve as sources of advice, information, encouragement, nurturing, and support to junior colleagues. The basics of mentoring involve sharing your knowledge of the organization and company culture at your center and sharing your wisdom from your experiences.
Coach and be coached, and the difference will show through your performance as a leader.
|
Follow Your Moral Compass
Have the strength and courage to do what is morally right, not what is expedient. Your moral compass must be your true North. Follow it and teach your team members to do the same, through example. Doing the right thing will be a catalyst to your center's success.
|
Conclusion
Know your center's purpose and follow the steps above to focus your performance on that purpose. Lead your center's team members by example, and they will each become leaders themselves. You'll soon have your five Rs in place, and your center in a better position.
