The Right Way to Say "Thank You" at Your ALLIANCE Center

The Right Way to Say "Thank You" at Your ALLIANCE Center

You've spent the year pushing your team to work harder and more efficiently, encouraging them to do their best work for the benefit of your ALLIANCE center. You've provided training and mentorship, leadership and guidance, and demanded your employees give 100% to match your own drive.

Now at the year's end is prime time to recognize and thank your employees for being a critical factor in the growth and success of your business.

Just as there are correct ways to motivate and give criticism, there are some ALLIANCE-recommended best-practice guidelines to follow when thanking your employees. Here are some quick tips to follow to ensure you effectively communicate your appreciation.

Why Be So Appreciative?

Did you know that 68% of team member turnover is due to not feeling appreciated by their management team? While providing constructive criticism and performance reviews are important parts of leading a team, showing appreciation and communicating thanks are practices that are just as critical. Sometimes a simple pat on the back can make a team member feel connected with the organization. Showing your staff that you notice and appreciate their hard work will motivate them to work even harder and put more effort into making your center successful.

Who to Thank and What to Thank Them For

How to Show Your Appreciation

You can take advantage of the winter holiday period to thank your team members and clients. You can do this with gifts or notes for each person. A personal, handwritten note is an especially effective way to reach out to those with whom you work or provide services for. Other ideas to show your appreciation at your center include:

  • Extra 1/2 hour at lunch to finish gift shopping
  • Providing postage for holiday greeting cards
  • Free call to a loved one during holiday season
  • A movie pass, lunch at the building cafe, etc.

When and Where to Show Your Appreciation

You can communicate your appreciation verbally or with a gift or note after a particularly good success or during a regular meeting or gathering. If you are holding a holiday party, take the opportunity to verbally thank your team in front of everyone. Even just a few words of appreciation can go far, especially with a crowd at a special event.

While the holidays are an excellent time to recognize your team members and clients, it's important to show your appreciation year-round. Don't just wait for a special occasion to let the people supporting you know that their hard work and business make a positive difference at your center.
